Our little man is 2!

Stats:*
Age: 2 years
Weight: 35 lbs
Length: 36 ¾ inches

Isaac is beginning too… remember things he is told (i.e. Ciah went bye-bye, Daddy at work, ““who bit you today”…”Noah””.), drink from a big boy cup, walk up and down stairs with assistance, say and recognize his ABC’s, count to ten (sometime to 13), say small sentences (i.e. “I did that”, “thank you mommy”) and catch a ball.

Isaac has mastered… recognizing and naming colors, naming most body parts, recognizing animals and the sounds that correspond, putting two words together, throwing and kicking a ball and running.

Isaac loves… balls, cars, and Little People. He is really likes putting in and taking out the Little People from the bus or airplane. Loves to color and water color paint. Isaac is obsessed with Sesame Street.

Isaac currently dislikes… getting in the car seat.

Names we call him… Iman and munchkin.

Fun Facts:
In the last few months Isaac's vocabulary has quadrupled. He can repeat pretty much everything (so we are really watching what we say). Our favorite things that Isaac says include “thank you mommy/daddy” “Oc-ca …bad dog!” “Kiss it”. We love to watch his little brain conger up a sentence. He sits and thinks for a few seconds and then says something like… “Isaac eat cookie too”.

Favorite words/sayings: "Octopus "Isaac do it" “Daddy all done” (he likes to announce when people are done eating).

He loves rap music, especially Black Eyed Peas. He often sits in his car seat and says..."Do It, Do It, Do It" or “Down, Down!”. He also loves to dance to these songs as well.

He is learning so much everyday and his comprehension is incredible. When asked a question, he answers Yes or No. To our amazement, Isaac knows the words to many familiar songs or books. We started leaving out the last word of songs and books and he new almost all of them. Now if given the chance he chimes in to his favorite songs and books. He currently likes to sing Old MacDonald, Twinkle Twinkle, Wheels on the Bus to name a few. He even was able to help sing Happy Birthday to daddy. Favorite book s include Brown Bear Brown Bear, We are Going on a Bear Hunt and Tails.

Isaac is still a great sleeper. He still sleeps with two blankies. We watch 20 minutes of Sesame Street, read him a two to three books, sing him the Barney song, and turn on the Fish/Seahorse/Octopus music machine. Bed time is around 8:00 or 8:30pm. He sleeps well through the night and wakes up around 7:30 or 8:00am.

Isaac is still a great eater as well. He eats breakfast, lunch, dinner and an afternoon snack. He is not picky and will try just about anything we give him. Odd foods that he likes include pickles, onions and mushrooms. His favorite fruits and veggies are probably apples and carrots (with dip of course.)

Balloon Glow

A couple of weekends ago St. Louis had its annual Balloon Glow and race. I thought Isaac would absolutely love this event because of his current obsession with balloons. The Balloon Glow is when a bunch of hot air balloons do exactly that… glow. It is such a sight to see but I-man wasn’t really digging it. I am not sure if it was the fire, the hour drive, or the ridiculous amount of people but he was not interested at all. So we decided not to stay for the fireworks and headed on home. But on our way out of the park there were some imitation balloons that were available for you to take your picture by and of course he just loved them. We were then stopped by an STL Magazine photographer to take our picture. She had a crazy lightup pen that Isaac couldn’t take his eyes off. Luckily for us, her pen didn’t write so I swapped a Bic for her lightup. Isaac was thrilled and used this as his light saber for the rest of the evening. Overall, we had a good time but I hope I-man will enjoy the actual Glow better next year.

The weather was beautiful on Sunday and we weren’t going to let it go to waste. We enjoyed ourselves playing a little t-ball.

4 cities + 6 different beds + delayed and late flights = Best Baby Ever

The Breed Family summer vacation this year was a trip to Nebraska and Colorado. Adam's cousin, Ally, got married in Boulder this past July so we thought we would make a family trip out it. I am not sure we really thought the plan through before we were actually went through with it. First, we flew to Omaha. Our flight was delayed for three hours because our plane was stuck by lighting (yes, you read that right ... lighting!). We then spent three days in Omaha visiting family and friends. We were able to see my best friends from college and their beautiful children. Isaac and Zach had a great time playing while Addy watched from afar. After Omaha, Adam's parents, their dog, and the three of us packed into the van and drove to Kearney. We spent one night in Kearney and then drove the rest of the way to Colorado. We spent the next two days hiking, swimming and enjoying the beautiful scenery. We then headed to Boulder for a beautiful wedding. Ally and Ival both looked amazing (even in the rain). The last day we spent in Denver with my sister and our good family friends. We had an amazing time just enjoying each other's company. After all we put Isaac through, he did absolutely wonderful. Never did he pitch a fit but just enjoyed the trip as much as we did!

I Heart Swimming!

At the beginning of this summer, Isaac was deathly afraid of the water. But now he is a little fish! Check out how much fun we had at the pool!

Family, Family and More Family

April was a busy month for us. We were able to spend three weekends in a row with different family members. Grammy and Papa West came to STL to celebrate Easter with us. We had lots of plans but of course we didn’t do any of them. Instead, we enjoyed each other’s company and just played around the house with the little dude. We did however have an Easter egg hunt. Isaac was too cute searching for his eggs except I probably didn’t need to fill as many as I did. Because once he realized there was goldfish, etc. inside he was more interested in eating than looking for eggs. We had a great time with Grammy and Papa and we miss them already!

The next weekend we packed up and headed to Houston to visit Brian, Erin and Micaiah. We had a few minor hindrances like AB almost missing our flight, it rained for two straight days and the terrible traffic on the way to Galveston. But none of these things really bothered us because the two kiddos were having such a good time with one another. Micaiah didn’t really know what to think of Isaac at first but she really warmed up to him. Again, we spent most of the time enjoying each others company and watching the kids play. We did take a trip to Galveston Bay and while Micaiah loved the ocean, Isaac was deathly afraid of all that water. He did enjoy the dirt and chasing the seagulls. We had a so much fun with the West family and we wish we could have stayed longer. Brian, Erin and Micaiah, thank you so much for having us. We hope we can come visit again soon.

This past weekend Rogy and JuJu (AB’s parents new Indian names thanks to Lily and Grace) came to STL to visit their grandchildren and celebrate Cade’s 11th birthday. Rogy and JuJu were busy from the minute they landed in STL. AB, Tyler, Roger and Cade spent Friday afternoon golfing. The kids, Bre, Judy and I enjoyed a late afternoon visit to the park. This is where I determined Isaac has no fear of animals because he literally chased down a duck. We ate dinner at Chucky Cheese, which was a first time experience for I-man, and he seemed to enjoy it. Saturday Rogy and JuJu juggled their time between Cade’s baseball and soccer games and a visit with us to Grant’s Farm. We went to the farm once last summer and Isaac seemed to like it. But this year, he absolutely loved all the animals. He even tried to feed the baby goats but none of them were hungry. I was so proud of my little man! Saturday evening we had a bar-b-que at our house , watched the kids play and tried to take a couple family snap-shots. Thanks for coming Rogy and JuJu!

We had such a fantastic time these past three weeks but now we are exhausted!

Magnum

I had to post this for all the Zoolander fans out there. For those, that haven't seen the movie, this is still pretty funny.

Pfizer Family Fun Day

We spent last Saturday afternoon at Pfizer Family Fun Day. While Isaac was still too small to really enjoy most of the activities, he did have fun making his Fred Bird hat.
He had so much fun he made one for daddy too. (If you look to the far right of the picture below and you can see what the hats are supposed to look like.)
Of course, he forgot to wear his hat when he actually met Fred Bird. You can’t tell from his facial expression but unlike the Easter Bunny he wasn’t afraid of Fred Bird at all.
We had a great time and look forward to next year… that is of course if Pfizer St. Louis is still open next year!

Bunny Breakfast 2009

We attended Bunny Breakfast at Isaac’s daycare again this year. But unlike last year, this year Isaac wanted nothing to do with the Easter Bunny. But of course being the determined person that I am, I was determined to get a picture of I-man and the Easter Bunny. The first go around didn’t go so well, we sat down next to the Easter Bunny and Isaac just whaled. I could hear in his shrieking “Mom, what the hell are you thinking? I want nothing to do with this scary furry white thing!” So I let him off my lap and he went sprinting away, not looking back.
There were plenty of other things to do so we ate breakfast, decorated an Easter bag, played with play-dough and participated in the egg hunt. Isaac enjoyed all of these things and would get mad at us when we tried to take him to the next activity. And each time we would move to the next activity, I-man would make sure to give the evil eye to the Bunny.

Before we were getting ready to leave, I wanted to try for a picture with the Easter Bunny one more time. AB of course told me I was crazy, but I was determined. So… this time I went in with a different approach. I had I-man give the Bunny high-fives and he seemed all right with it. So I nonchalantly sat next to the Bunny for one more try… and it worked! We got this….
Not to bad, right?
We had a great time and now we looking forward to having our own Easter celebration this weekend with Grammy and PaPa.

Go Little Speed Racer

Isaac started walking the second week of February (just in time for our visit to Grammy and Papa West’s.) In six week’s time he has really picked up the pace. Soon, I am not sure if we will be able to keep up our little speed racer.

The 15th Month Montage

Stats:
Age: 15 months
Weight: 28 lbs 8 oz…90th Percentile
Length: 32 ¾ inches …90th Percentile
Head Circumference: 19 ½ inches… 95th Percentile

Isaac…

Started walking three days before he turned 15 months.

Is a wonderful helper. He loves to help around the house. He tries to sweep, fold laundry, dust and wipe his high-chair tray off.

Can do the motions to "If you are Happy and you know it...", "The wheels on the bus.", and sometimes “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes”.

Loves to dance (with pom poms). He wiggles his little body anytime there is music playing. He also loves to put pen caps on and off.

Started using a spoon. (this has been quite messy!)

Currently dislikes peas.

Is very good at responding to directions.

Has finally learned to give closed mouth kisses! It is wonderful to get a kiss goodbye!

Is an excellent sleeper! He is sleeping from 7:30 pm to 7:30 am on weekdays and he usually sleeps until 8:00 or later on weekends.

When asked is able to point to several body parts including belly, head and nose.

Is a man of few words. He currently says mama, dada, more, uh-oh, all done and bye-bye. (We are working on the vocabulary… we got lectured by Dr. Huger at his 15 month exam)

Very goofy, happy and just a wonderful toddler!

Welcome to the World, Addyson Lin Seidl

One of my best friends from college, Amber Seidl, gave birth to baby girl, Addyson Lin on February 4th. She weighed in at a healthy 10lbs 7 oz with a length of 22 inches. We hope we can one day soon meet the new little girl!! Congratulations to the Seidl Family! We love you and are so happy for you!
You can see more pictures of Addy on the Seidl blog. http://addyson-seidl.blogspot.com

I'm Pooped

For several months now Isaac has only been taking one nap a day at daycare. But at home, he was still taking a morning and afternoon nap (we must be boring or something). We thought it was about time for us to get on the same schedule as daycare. So… Saturday mid-morning Isaac is starting to show signs of sleepiness, but I am determined to keep him up until after his lunch. So I take him to Target to do a little shopping. He was very well behaved but now showing signs of extreme exhaustion. We get home unload the bags and Isaac sits down for lunch. So I think to myself “be efficient…get a chore done while Isaac his eating”. Therefore, I proceed to unload and reload the dishwasher while chatting with I-man. Well, I failed to notice that his chatter stopped before looking over at his high-chair to see this…

Health Report: Isaac is currently healthy! Yeah!

Isaac turned one on November 16, 2008. His puppy themed party was celebrated with family and friends. We were so lucky to have relatives from afar join us for this momentous occasion. Thank you to for making the long trip to come see I-man on his big day. Isaac did wonderful with all the commotion but was not at all interested in his cupcake. He took one lick of the frosting and knew he wanted nothing to do with it. This means we didn’t get any good cake pictures… oh well… I’m sure the day will come when he can’t get enough sugar! Here are some pictures from the big event!

Family Update

A lot has happened since our last blog entry. I (Sara) after working three years in the accounting department for Dierbergs Markets made the bold decision to switch career fields. After chairing Dierberg’s main fundraising campaign for the American Heart Association, I learned that I much more enjoyed fundraising and event’s management then I did my everyday accounting job. So in early November I took job as a Foundation Coordinator for a national optometric charity. Thus far, I think it was the right decision and I am truly enjoying the new challenge.
Also since our last blog, Isaac turned one and moved to the toddler room at daycare. It is official, we no longer have a baby! I swear he is growing daily and constantly learning new things. It has been wonderful watching him discover new objects and figuring out how things work. But this new inquisitive toddler is much more of a handful then he ever was before. He is BUSY, BUSY, BUSY getting into pantries, cupboards, drawers etc. Needless to say, Adam and I have some toddler proofing to do.

I'm Sorry!

Well, it has been quite some time since I updated the family blog… but up until recently I didn’t know we had so many habitual readers. It wasn’t until we were home for Christmas that several people expressed their desire for a new blog entry. So I must say to our loyal fans… I apologize for the lack of blogging and I vow to do a better job in 2009. To start this vow on the right foot, let me give you a preview of the entries to come…Family Update, Isaac’s First Birthday, Is this Turkey?, 10+ Hours and a Trip to the ER, and Happy New Year…2008 in Review.
