A Momentary Lapse in Sanity

Isaac is such a little man. In the course of the past couple weeks my baby has grown into such a little man. He is actively crawling all around the floor to explore this new world. (I will try to post a video soon.) And over the weekend, Isaac learned to get himself to a sitting position from his belly. We were quite impressed to walk into his room one morning and find him sitting on his bed, smiling because he was so proud of himself. (We were proud of him too!). But thru these growth milestones, I find myself sadly missing my little baby. The one that would stay put for more than 2 seconds, but more importantly cuddle for hours. I miss his sweet “new baby” scent. Of course, I mentioned this to Adam, how I just miss our little baby and that I would like another one…yes you heard me right… I said I wanted another baby! I obviously had a momentary lapse in sanity because while I miss our little guy, I would never be able to keep up with two.

Welcome to the World, Baby Anna

Our great family friend, Heather gave birth to baby girl, Anna Micheale Vigil on Thursday, July 17th. She weighed in at 8lbs 4 oz with a length of 20 inches and lots of hair. Anna is doing well and went home yesterday to her three siblings. Sara and Isaac are hoping we can one day meet the new little girl!! Congratulations to the Vigil Family! We love you and are so happy for you! (Aunti Kenzie is going to send me some pictures. I will make sure to post them!)

The Eigth Month Montage

Stats:*
Age: 8 months
Weight: 23 lbs
Length: 28 1/2 inches
Health Report: After all the testing and treatments it is safe to say that Isaac might have baby asthma but he has “no allergies what-so-ever”. YEAH!!! We are done (for now) with all breathing treatments, steroids and antibiotics. HALLELUAH!
* These were measured by mom and dad. We didn’t have a Wellness Exam at 8 months.

Isaac is beginning too… rock on hand and knees, indicate wants with gestures, mimic mom and dad, say bababababa (I think dada is in the near future) and have food preferences (not a huge fan of some of the new flavors).

Isaac has mastered… the army crawl( it is so funny looking), scooting, standing with assistance, looking for a hidden object, playing peek-a-boo, making motorboat noises, and making “Indian call” noises.

Isaac loves… exploring by army crawling, zerberts, standing, Hippo Head, his new Happy Frog baby pool, bath time and story time.

Isaac currently dislikes… when mom and/or dad leave the room.

Names we call him… I-man, Stinker, Munchkin and Big Guy.

Proud Parents… This has been the best month yet. Isaac is (what I think) at the perfect age… he sits, he plays, he laughs, he crawls, and he is such a little ham! He has kept us laughing from the motorboat and “Indian call” noises to the bob your head dancing. He is developing his own little personality which has been so fun to see evolve. We just love hanging out with our little guy.

Questionable Parenting Skills...

These past couple of days I have been questioning my parenting skills. First, Sunday afternoon the three of us made a trip out to Wal-Mart to pick up the necessary baby items, household products, etc. I should preface the remainder of this story with that I usually run errands alone… well as we are strolling around the store I am talking with Adam and not so much watching Isaac. Well… I don’t think my “mommy multi-task super power” has kicked in yet because the next thing you know the shopping list is missing a rather large corner piece. Yep… that’s right… he ate the list! Luckily, there was no harm done and we got most of the paper out before we swallowed all of it.
As if this wasn’t enough to make me doubt my parenting skills, Monday I observed that my son might need to work on his people skills. Monday morning when I dropped off the little man at daycare I set him down to play with his friends on the mat while I put away his belongings (bottle, diapers, etc). Next thing you know I see his BFF Evan fall over… because Isaac stole his toy right from Evan’s little hands! So I go over, sit Evan back up, return his toy and then continue to put Isaac’s things away. Next, I hear Chase crying…because Isaac stole her Binky right from her mouth! He doesn’t even like Binky’s! So I think I have some work to do on some of my parenting skills… learn to multi-task and teach Isaac to share!

Family, Family, Family

This past week/weekend was such a blast! We were able to spend the entire weekend in the company of family and friends. First, Wednesday evening, Uncle Tyler, Aunt Brianne and the twins came over to babysit I-man. Adam and I escaped for the evening for a Cardinal’s game. The girls had such a fun time with their baby cousin…we just can’t wait until he’s big enough to really play. Then Grandma Judy flew in on Friday and she played with Isaac all afternoon. After Isaac went to sleep, the three of us spent the evening grilling out and watching fireworks from our deck. Saturday afternoon the West Grandparents arrived and then they played with Isaac all afternoon. Papa and Grammy West volunteered to babysit on Saturday night so Adam and I could venture over to the VanAnne’s for UFC Fight Night. On Sunday, Adam and I again were able to attend the Card’s game. (Yes… we had three baby sitters in one week, which is strange because including these we have only had 6 babysitters in the past 8 months! So it was sure nice to have a few hours as adults!) Monday is when the real fun started, Brian, Erin and Micaiah came to town. YEAH!!! We finally got to meet the cute little thing… although she isn’t that little anymore! Isaac got to share all his fun toys with his new cuz’. It was great to see the Houston West’s and hopefully it won’t be another 8 months before we see each other again. Isaac had so much fun all weekend showing Papa how to use his toys (I truly think Papa likes them better than I-man), splashing in his new pool, showing off his new skills for the grandparents and playing with his cousins. It was great!
